ほこさき【矛先･鋒先】

1 〔ほこのきっ先〕 the point of a spear; a spearhead.

2 〔攻撃〕 an attack; a thrust 《into enemy territory》; 〔攻撃の目標〕 the aim of an attack.

●政権批判の矛先が鈍る critical attacks on the government become muted

・彼の論鋒(_ろんぽう)は矛先が鋭くて反論のしようがない. The force of his argument is irresistible.

●矛先を向ける direct one's spearhead 《on…》; turn the guns 《on…》
